26th Osaka International Music Competition: Empowering Young Talents in International Stage

The 26th Osaka International Music Competition (OIMC 2025) took place in Osaka, Japan, held during October 9-13, 2025. This internationally acclaimed event brings talented young musicians from around the world through music performance, learning, and collaboration.

This year, FIMO was proud to support and organize the participation of promising young musicians, guiding them throughout their journey. From practice sessions and masterclasses, to the main competition and gala concert.

About the 26th Osaka International Music Competition

The Osaka International Music Competition ( 大阪国際音楽コンクール ) has long been known as one of Asia’s most respected annual music events, promoting musical excellence and cultural exchange since its first held in 2000. OIMC offers an invaluable platform for young musicians such as pianists, singers, and string players, to perform before esteemed international judges and audiences. 

In 2025, the competition enters its 26th year under the artistic direction of Christopher Hinterhuber, an internationally acclaimed pianist and educator known for his inspiring musical vision. The event is also guided by Special Counselor Michael Frischenschlager, whose contributions help strengthen OIMC’s global reach and artistic excellence.

Practice Session

October 9, 2025 | Himamura Music, Grand Front Osaka North Building 5th Floor 

To help participants prepare, the participants have been provided 30 minute individual practice sessions for each competitor. Participants may practice with their parents or teachers, using either upright or grand pianos. This pre-competition session ensures that young musicians can warm-up and familiarize themselves with the environment before stepping onto the main stage.

FIMO ensures each participant’s schedule is organized efficiently, allowing them to focus fully on their music and preparation.

OIMC 26th Masterclass Session with Heyoung Park

The Osaka International Music Competition Masterclass is one of the most anticipated activities of the competition. This exclusive one-on-one private learning session pairs each student with distinguished musicians specializing in their instrument namely Christopher Hinterhuber, Helene Berger, and Heyoung Park.

26th OIMC Competition Session

The highlight of the week was the main Osaka International Music Competition, where talented young musicians performed before a world-class panel of judges. This year, around 40 young pianists from Indonesia supported by FIMO, will proudly represent their country in various competition categories. Their participation reflects Indonesia’s growing presence in the global classical music scene and FIMO’s dedication to empowering young talent.

Award Ceremony

October 11-12, 2025 | Muramatsu Recital Hall Shin- Osaka

The Award Ceremony of the Osaka International Music Competition was held on the same days as each competition category. Winners received official recognition from OIMC, and those who achieved the First Prize were invited to perform at the Gala Concert.

FIMO celebrated each participant’s success, recognizing their dedication, discipline, and growth throughout the competition.

October 13, 2025 | Takatsuki Arts Theatre South Building Torishima Hall

OIMC 2025 Gala Concert with Winner from South Korea

The Gala Concert served as the grand finale of OIMC 2025, featuring First Prize Winners from various categories. The concert took place at the elegant Tatsuki Arts Theatre, where young winners performed for an enthusiastic audience.

The evening was filled with artistry, inspiration, and emotion, a fitting conclusion to a week that celebrated with passion and perseverance. With FIMO’s guidance, the Indonesian participants proudly took their place among the international talents on stage.

The 26th Osaka International Music Competition 2025 was more than just a competition. It was a celebration of dedication, growth, and cultural unity through music. With the leadership of Artistic Director Christopher Hinterhuber and unwavering support from FIMO, OIMC 2025 became a milestone in the journey of many young musicians, inspiring them to continue pursuing excellence in the art of music.
