Hailun International Music and Arts Competition (HIMAC) Malaysia 2026: A Meaningful International Experience for Young Indonesian Musicians

Across Malaysia, music took center stage as young musicians gathered for days of preparation, learning, and competition. From 28 to 30 August 2026, the Hailun International Music and Arts Competition (HIMAC) Malaysia 2026 unfolded through practice sessions, private masterclasses, competition performances, an award ceremony, and a Winners Finale for selected participants.

A Platform for Musical Learning and Performance

The program began on 28 August with practice and masterclass sessions, giving participants time to prepare before the competition. The following day, the focus shifted to competition and awards at JC3 Hall, Sunway University.

Around 59 participants from Indonesia joined the competition across Piano and Vocal instruments. From these participants, around 9 recipients of Champion Awards were selected to continue to the Winners Finale on 30 August.

Masterclass – Learning Through One-on-One Sessions

The masterclass offered private, one-on-one learning with master teachers according to each participant’s instrument. The Piano session was led by Ms. Lee Xin Yi Joyce from Malaysia, while the Vocal session was led by Ms. Juwita Suwito from Malaysia.

Held at the Trinity College London National Representative Office, the sessions formed part of the preparation before the competition.

Practice Session – Preparing Before the Competition

Practice sessions on 28 August gave participants time to rehearse with their parents or teachers ahead of the competition. Each participant had 30 minutes for their practice session.

The practice rooms were equipped with both upright and grand pianos.

Competition – Young Indonesian Musicians on the International Stage

29 August 2026 | JC3 Hall, Sunway University

On 29 August, around 59 participants from Indonesia competed at JC3 Hall, Sunway University, across Piano and Vocal instruments.

The competition was followed directly by the award ceremony at the same venue. Around 9 Indonesian Champion Award recipients were selected to continue to the Winners Finale.

Awards followed directly after the competition on 29 August at JC3 Hall, Sunway University.

The ceremony also marked the selection of around 9 Indonesian Champion Award recipients who would continue to the Winners Finale, representing both Piano and Vocal instruments.

Winners Finale – A New Stage for Selected Winners

30 August 2026 | JC3 Hall, Sunway University

The program concluded on 30 August with the Winners Finale at JC3 Hall, Sunway University. Designed specifically for selected Champion Award recipients, the finale gave these participants another opportunity to compete.

Around 9 Indonesian participants from the Piano and Vocal instruments were selected to take part in the Winners Finale.
