International Music Competition HKYPA 2024 Successfully Held in Jakarta

Bringing Hong Kong’s finest international music competition to Indonesia

For the first time, HKYPA preliminary round was held in Indonesia. This preliminary round provides a platform for participants to showcase their best abilities while gaining experience at an international level. HKYPA presents a golden opportunity for Indonesia’s younger generation to demonstrate their talents and creativity on the global stage.

HKYPA Indonesia Preliminary Round 2024

From November 16 to 17, 2024, the HKYPA Indonesia Preliminary Round was successfully held at the Wyndham Hotel, Jakarta. The event attracted 200 participants from various regions in Indonesia, competing in diverse musical arts categories. The competition was judged by renowned international adjudicators, Ms. Jacqueline Leung and Dr. Philbert King Yue Li, both of whom bring extensive experience in evaluating world-class music competitions.

Exclusive Masterclass with International Experts

Before the competition commenced, exclusive Masterclass sessions were organized to provide participants with valuable learning experiences and insights. These sessions featured several international music figures, including:

  • Prof. Alberto Firincielli (Italy): Expert in piano techniques, classical improvisation, and composition.
  • Mr. Ian Goh (Malaysia): Specialist in music interpretation and performing arts.
  • Prof. Gilbert De Greeve (Belgium): Authority in classical music pedagogy.
  • Monique Klongtuadroke (Italy): Expert in creative improvisation and developing individual musical styles.

Participants gained not only technical insights but also training in artistic expression and interpretation, making these sessions invaluable for their growth as musicians.

The Path to the Finals 

Winners of the HKYPA Indonesia Preliminary Round will advance to the Hong Kong International Youth and Performance Arts (HKYPA) 2025 from 7-9 February 2025 at Regal Riverside Hotel, Shatin & Tsuen Wan City Hall, Hong Kong. At the finals, they will compete with the best young talents from around the world, providing an opportunity to expand their networks and showcase their skills to an international audience.
